About the Saint:

Saint Patrick (385-461) was a Missionary and Bishop in Ireland, who is credited with introducing Christianity to the country. Though it is not proven that there were ever snakes in Ireland, the legend is popular because snakes are a symbol of Satan, and he certainly banished much evil from the Island. He is the patron saint of Ireland.
