The Retablo, or ʻboard behind the altarʼ art form, was originally created in New Mexico in the 1800ʼs, and has been handed down the generations to this day. Lynn Garlick has created this unique two sided icon of Saint Paul, Patron Saint of Missionaries.
Backside reads: St. Paul the Apostle. Missionaries, Writers, and Tent Makers.
"Paul's words from Romans 15:13, "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him so that ye may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Spirit."
About the Saint: Saint Paul was one of the leaders of the first generation of Christians, often considered to be the most important person after Jesus in the history of Christianity. Of the 27 books in the New Testament, 13 are attributed to Paul, and approximately half of the Acts of the Apostles, deals with Paul’s life and works.
In addition, he is the Patron saint of Book Publishers/Sellers, and Missionaries. This is why we selected him as our business' namesake.
