The Retablo, or ʻboard behind the altarʼ art form, was originally created in New Mexico in the 1800ʼs, and has been handed down the generations to this day. Lynn Garlick has created this unique two sided icon of Santa Ana, the Patron of Grandmothers.
Backside reads: "Santa Ana, you were favored by God to be the grandmother of Jesus.
Your care and love of Mary must have been great. Guide me in my relationship
with my children and grandchildren. May the deep and profound love I feel for them overcome and heal mistakes I have made."
About the saint: Santa Ana (Saint Ann) was the Virgin Mary's mother, and wife of Saint Joachim. She had great faith in her daughter Mary, and believed in Mary's immaculate conception. In Brittany (France) it is believed she appeared in a ship of light sailed by angels.
Dimensions: 2.75" H X 1.5" W.
