About the Saint: San Fernando (St Ferdinand) was a man of great faith and devotion especially to Our Lady. He founded and funded hospitals, monasteries and churches. He reformed Spanish law and compiled it into a form used for centuries after. An excellent administrator and a just ruler, he often pardoned those who worked against the crown and always strove to use his power to better his people and his nation.
