TAC is the signature name of Theresa Zepeda, owner of Saint Paul's Catholic Books & Gifts.
La Corona de Cristo is also known as Euphorbia milii, the crown of thorns, Christ plant, or Christ's thorn. It is a species of flowering plant in the spurge family Euphorbiaceae, native to Madagascar. The species name commemorates Baron Milius, once Governor of Réunion, who introduced the species to France in 1821.
This particular painting was created while I spent a sabbatical in Jalisco, Mexico. The plant is commonly found in homes of that region due to its ability to flourish in the humid climate. I reflected on its beauty often, though thick branched and thorny, a beautiful flower bloomed at the top.
