About the Saint:
Nicholas was Bishop pf Myra in Turkey. He knew of three young woman who were going to have to live a life of prostitution because their father could not afford a dowry. One night Nicholas threw a bag of gold through their bedroom window and saved them from this life of shame. During a famine he miraculously provided bread for the poor. Also, during the same famine he was walking by a butcher shop that had meat in the window. He went into the shop. There he found three little boys and saved them from the butcher knife.
